Quilters Dream was established in Westgate, Waitakere in April 2007. The shop is owned by Wendy Oswin who has a serious passion for fabric and quilt making in all its many forms.

Quilters Dream has approximately 1600 bolts of fabric that encompass a veritable rainbow of lights, mediums and darks across the colour spectrum. We particularly specialise in Brights, beautiful Batiks, rich Moda country colours, elegant florals, beautiful vintage fabrics, 1930’s reproduction prints, Kiwiana designs and many other fabrics. In short – we try to have a good selection of the best of everything!

Our well stocked shelves boast hundreds of books and patterns and as we source many of our books from overseas we are able to get a wider range of books for our customers. We are happy to try and find the book you want and you usually only have to wait a couple of weeks for it to arrive. In addition, we stock patterns designed by Wendy and Tracey Roberts many of which are exclusive to Quilters Dream.

We carry a full range of essential notions including Clover, Fast Patch and Omnigrid rulers, many different battings by the metre, stencils and lots of threads. Variegated threads are lovely to work with and we stock the YLI range, Gutermann pure cotton for appliqué and their hand quilting threads. In addition we have the full range of DMC embroidery threads and Mettler machine embroidery cottons.

Wendy Oswin

Wendy took up quilting in 1994 whilst living overseas and dabbled a little for a few years before the bug took hold of her properly in 2000. She has sewn and crafted since she was 11 and the transition to quilting was a natural progression.

Wendy is an award winning quilter who loves all aspects of quilt making. Her particular favourites are machine piecing, appliqué work by hand or machine, adding another dimension with interesting machine quilting and smaller arty projects like bags and cushions.

Recently discovering an ability to draw that she did not know she had she is now enjoying designing her own patterns and they are available from us.

A piece of each batik fabric that comes into the shop usually goes home with Wendy although the same can also be said of lots of our other fabrics too! A girl can never have too much fabric….
